Known for his thoughtful approach and ability to build trusted relationships, Don works collaboratively with clients to identify opportunities, evaluate options, and deliver effective solutions. Whether providing strategic guidance or hands-on support, Don brings the same commitment to every project and aims to be a true partner for his clients.
From an early age, Don worked in maintenance at a hotel on weekends, while landscaping and building custom home in the summers.
He later moved on to subdivision framing prior to enrolling in a Building Systems Engineering Technology program at Seneca College. During summers, he ran energy efficiency programs and conducted utility analysis for the City of Toronto Corporate Real Estate Management office and was also building operator for York Region's Earth Rangers.
Following graduation, Don moved to Waterloo where worked to LEED certify over 25 buildings in Southern Ontario, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Here, he honed his skill in design of building envelope solutions, energy efficiency improvements, and sustainable landscaping. While working he achieved his Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designations.
Seeking a change, Don went on to designing municipal water and industrial HVAC and Refrigeration systems. During this time, Don refined his ability to manage uncertainty and problem solve creatively. Daily activities included managing numerous service contracts, responding to emergency repair calls as well as managing large capital projects through a team of in-house field staff and subcontractors from diverse trades backgrounds.
Working on his personal and professional development in his spare time, Don completed his executive MBA, started a family, and bought a restoration property to refurbish. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Don decided to start his own business and Beyond Repairs Ltd was born.
